The High Key Studio Look
The above image demonstrates that I change my studio in just a few minutes from the romantic moody boudoir feel to a high key look. High key refers to a bright white background ideal for portraits, which results in a modern fresh feel. How's this possible? I have fixed to the ceiling several paper backdrops, that simply is pulled down and under the client towards me. My studio lights are free standing, and are positioned to create that bright airy look.
The Chaise Longue.....
This piece of elegant furniture, which is iconically used in Boudoir Photography, was originally created by French furniture craftsmen in the late 1700s. The meaning of Chaise Longue is Long Chair in French.
There are so many poses that we can shoot on the chaise longue, from the really simple reclined position with your back leaning on the right arm of the chair and your legs bent towards the opposite end. We can change your arm position and change leg positions to get a variety of shots from this simple pose. You could lay on your tummy with your legs in a variety of positions bent in mid air or resting on the chaise. Or you can be facing the camera laying slightly twisted on your side, being supported with the chaise bolster for support, with your eyes open or closed. A kneeing pose works really well too, as it shows the natural curves in your back & your booty really well. For all these poses lingerie works really well & some would work well wearing your favorite dress.
This is my beautiful faux leather chaise longue photographed below with the black velvet damask wallpaper as a backdrop.
How Do Models Have Flawless Skin?
Have you ever wondered how models in photographs have flawless skin?
Do they have a strict diet..........possibly, do they use luxurious skin care products..........possibly, do they wear top end makeup..........possibly, do they have a professional photography post production retoucher..........definitely!
With the help of our professional makeup artist, soft lighting and my post production retouching YOU too can have a perfect complexion.
Blemishes, tan lines, birthmarks, wrinkles, scars, moles, fine lines and spots. If you want me to remove them or simply tone anything down in post production, that's no problem at all. Share with me your concerns and/or dislikes and I'll retouch your photos to make you happy.
Remember this..........In reality perfect isn't normal and normal isn't perfect!
Below is the before and after, removing her scar based on her request of course....
My First BLOG
Today is the day I start my very own blog. I've got to admit it's a bit daunting, however I think it's a very important space for you to get to know me. It's also a great place I can share tips on posing, what to wear at a boudoir photoshoot and everything boudoir photography & portrait photography related. So without any further delay.......Let's begin.
Hi I'm Samantha, known to my family and friends as either Sam or Sammy. I'm in my forties, 5 foot 11 inches and blonde, although the truth is I've been hiding grey hairs for many years with the help of my hairdresser/sister. I'm slim, which I put down to a high metabolism, not being able to eat most wheat based food and being a full time worrier.
Tall, blonde and slim.......I've probably painted a some what perfect picture of myself no doubt. But when I tell you that I, like most women, have body issues and that I'm not that body confident, it may surprise you. Do I look at other women and think they look better than me and have better bodies than me, of course I do. But ideally we want to feel great about ourselves......right?! We want to feel great about the skin we are in......right?! We want to look our best......right?!
Well then let me help you................Let's Boudoir!
